No fear

The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 NIV

Whom shall I fear? There IS “nothing to fear but fear itself” because when I let fear come in, I take my eyes off of God. The enemy, Satan, knows this and counts on it. Fear cripples us. Fear builds up in our minds until we are listening and believing the lies – fear of not being good enough, fear of failure, fear of the future, fear of not being loved.

Truth will defeat fear. God’s truth.

I am His and I have a place with Him in Heaven. Here and now is only temporary. David’s request of God, “one thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell n the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.” v4. The Lord is my salvation. That is the truth and that is my focus. No fear

Fear lives in darkness. The Lord is my light, and that light exposes the ways of the evil one. When I expose the darkness to the light of truth, I see that what I fear is not from God. The darkness is replaced by God’s light to show me His way. “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105. God is my light, my truth. No fear.

Even though the enemy (troubles, hardships, struggles, illness) may surround me, I know that God is my stronghold. I can come in and claim the power of God to protect me. As David says, “…my heart will not fear…I will be confident” v3. Why did David not fear and was able to be confident? He knew his God as his light, his salvation and his stronghold. He KNOWS GOD. No fear.

God, I fear not because you love me and will walk through this journey at my side. And then when my time here is done, I will gaze upon your beauty. Let that be my focus.
