A Voice for Building Up Others

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 3:29 NIV

Somedays the struggle is real. Circumstances, lack of sleep, triggers, past hurts rule the day. How do I know? Trashy mouth opens wide and out comes words I had no intention of saying. (Lack of filter, reactive words – not a good combo). Oh…to be able to take them back and replace them with words that build up that person. That is what God calls us to do. Build others up, listen to their needs and speak into their lives with the love and kindness and gentleness they should be given. Do NOT let any unwholesome talk come out of “my” mouth. Such a personal command. I need to take out the trash to where is belongs…a trash can. Start by finding the hidden, mysterious, stinky trash that has been rotting inside me, and let it go. Be free of it. Replace it with God’s grace, mercy, forgiveness and love.

God, free me from the trash and fill me with your love. Teach me to make wise choices of my words for the building up of others.
