Hand It Over

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

I have a confession. If I don’t know how to do something, I avoid doing it. If I don’t like doing something, I avoid it. Why? Perfectionist Syndrome. Yep. I know it well. I get anxious. I don’t want to fail or ask. I pretend it’s not there. I worry it to death…instead of just facing it. Like all anxieties and worries, it’s easier to live in this place rather than move forward. At least we think it’s easier.

But God says give me “everything”!

Really? Yes. Humble in prayer, specific in request, and thankful for His will (not mine). Bring it all to God and leave it there. He knows the bigger picture. In the end, I have peace and I’m in His plan, not mine. Whew!

(P.S. For the perfectionists out there, trust that God is the only one who has the perfect plan. Ouch! I feel that one.)

God, I give you my worries. Each day. All of them. I don’t know what to do with them, except lose sleep over them. I claim your will and your peace. Thank you.
